When You Think You’ve Seen It All…

ukfarmerbales.jpg

I don’t know what to think about this particular farmer but this made me chuckle. There will always be illegal buildings I suppose. Urbanists and environmentalists are thought to be bright people and try to keep the green belts and agricultutal lands intact. But ha ha, think not that there isn’t a brighter cookie in the jar to outsmart them!

How to build a house on a piece of protected agricultural land?

1) Build a huge frame and cover it with hay bales and bushes.

2) Build huge house inside the frame so it’s out of sight of the neighbours.

3) Wait 4 years so that you trick the law that says: If nobody complains about a situation on a piece of land, it is permitted to stay.

4) Take the hay away and live in house.

5) Use laser mind control wand to make them think it’s always been there.

Oh please, keep reading.

Tom Cruise Freaks Me Out

I’m not here to trash the church of Scientology or any religion for that matter. But this is brainwash. And he takes my breath aoowaaay.

I’d Rather Be Surfing

bustindownthedoor.jpg

But, but, but… this is not about architecture or any other profoundly important profession that the whole world evolves around!?

Today, a post at notcot triggered my imagination…again. I cursed Ljubljana’s gloomy weather a million times, and couldn’t wait to get my ass home from work. Bustin’ down the door is a new documentary covering the beginnings of what is known today as the surf culture. Check out the trailer here. I mean, you don’t have to, this is just me wishing to be somewhere else like um… I don’t know in Perth with my girl Ursa? =) Yeah, THAT would be GREAT. But instead I’ll go lie down on my bed in a fetal position and weep while my surfboard is getting invaded by the dust bunnies.

Do Schools Kill Creativity?

The talk is about 2 years old but the topic is infinitely interesting to me. Having ADHD is no fun, I know firsthand, that’s why I’m so interested in his work. From TEDs official webpage: Creativity expert Sir Ken Robinson challenges the way we’re educating our children. He champions a radical rethink of our school systems, to cultivate creativity and acknowledge multiple types of intelligence.

”If you’re not prepared to be wrong, you’ll never come up with anything original.”

This is by far one of the most interesting lectures I have ever heard.

Belkin Rockstar 6 Port Audio Hub

belkinrockstar.jpg

At the 2008 International CES Belkin introduced this little gadget. It’s cute. And… yeah two thumbs up for the cuteness. But what happens when me and my friends to this – especially the part at 00:17? I like to move it move it too Belkin. I like to move it move it too. Now go stand in the corner and think about what you’ve done.

Wallpaper* Architects Directory

emergingarchitects.jpg

Wallpaper* announced 101 of the world’s most exciting new architects. Slovenia’s got two studios listed: Bevk-Perovič Arhitekti and Gregorc Vrhovec , and I’m really pleased with that. Sure some of you might disagree, but the mere fact that they’ve been recognized by an international design webpage tells you that these architects know what’s up. So quit your whining and go change a lightbulb.

Check out the directory by clicking the image above.
